Once they submit it, the form will come to our office automatically.  *If for some reason your referee cannot complete the form online, they can complete and email us this form.
If your recommendations are submitted via email to, the applicant should NOT be copied on the email. If submitting the references by postal mail or in person, please ensure that referees have signed across the seal of the envelope.
  • A short writing sample (2000-3000 words), preferably of graduate-level work, that illustrates engagement with research germane to both the home department and the GSFR Graduate Diploma program. The student may submit the same writing sample sent as part of the application to the home Ph.D. department, assuming it illustrates engagement with gender and/or feminist studies.
  • Copies of Transcripts.  We can receive copies of your transcripts, undergraduate and graduate, including the transcript for the first year of your doctoral studies at McMaster (this can be downloaded directly from Mosaic). Copies of transcripts submitted to your home department for admission are acceptable, but it is the student’s responsibility to supply these copies with their application for the diploma.

Step 3: If you receive an offer of admission, you will then be required to send us your official transcripts.
