Although students in the M.A. program will normally be admitted on a full-time basis, we will consider applications for part-time studies. In these cases, applicants will be required to provide a brief written explanation of the special circumstances that make it impracticable for them to complete the degree on a full-time basis.
The program requirements for the part-time Master’s are the same as those for the full-time Master’s, but the student will complete them over a longer period of time (with the maximum timeframe being 5 years, in accordance with McMaster’s School of Graduate Studies policy).
Coursework may be completed in any sequence, but the three core courses (GSFR 700 Current Debates in Feminist and Gender Theory; GSFR 701 Doing Research in Feminist and Gender Studies; and GSFR 707 Knowledge in Action) must be completed prior to the independent research project.
